Welding Torches & Guns

Welding torches and guns are essential tools in the field of welding, serving as the primary means of generating intense heat to join metals together. These devices provide a controlled flame or arc that melts the edges of the workpieces, allowing for the formation of strong and durable welds. Welding torches are commonly used in oxy-fuel welding and cutting processes, where a mixture of fuel gas and oxygen is ignited to create a high-temperature flame. The torches typically consist of a handle, control valves, and a variety of interchangeable tips or nozzles to accommodate different welding tasks. The operator can adjust the fuel and oxygen flow to regulate the flame’s intensity, ensuring precise heat control for various metal thicknesses and welding applications.

On the other hand, welding guns are primarily employed in arc welding processes such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas) or TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding. These guns feature a handle with a trigger mechanism that activates the welding process. Inside the gun, a consumable electrode wire is fed through a cable and connected to a power source. When the trigger is pressed, an electric current passes through the wire, creating an arc between the electrode and the workpiece. This arc generates the necessary heat to melt the metals and create the weld joint.

Welding guns often include additional components such as gas nozzles and shielding gas flow control, enabling the use of inert gases to protect the weld pool from atmospheric contamination.
